Clearly, I should be compiling all sorts of items for a really great Father's Day post. Clearly. But there are so many damn sales right now and, well, I can't help myself. And because it would make me feel better if I wasn't the only one buying a ton of crap, I thought I would share. You're welcome.

My Style....by missDTM

The recent release of the book I Want To Be Her! has me thinking about who has influenced my style. I reached out to one of the most stylish people I know, missDTM, to see who influences her daily style. ~pemora

 

The girl I wanna be? Well, when it comes to fashion, it’s always a mix of tomboy/girlie/hippie style. No joke. I love looking like my outfit was “just thrown together” like those fashionistas you see in those blogs. So when people say, “you look so cute today!” I love responding, “oh! This? Just threw it together this AM.” Which may, or may not, be true.

My BIGGEST influences?

1. Iris Apfel leads the charge. Any older woman who can wear as many patterns as she does and matches it with large jewelry is the person I want to be now and when I get older. I love how fun and fearless her outfits are, how confidently she wears them, and how she has never ever doubted her style.

2. I seriously love the style of MK+A as well. They, as a unit, are that perfect blend of hot mess and girlie. Sometimes MK looks like a gypsy while A looks like an angel. Other times they both channel tomboy differently but perfectly. I mainly love MK’s hippie/dirty style though. I wish to be the latina-MK (but not the druggy/anorexic looking kind).

3. boy style. I love seeing men in sweaters and layers. I love when they layer on jewelry. I just love boy style. I think if I could, I would wear long varsity sweaters with all of my dresses. And tees with my skirts.

Girl Crush: Janelle Monae....by pemora

A couple of years ago, missDTM and I attended a No Doubt concert in Jones Beach. Love No Doubt. Anyway, Janelle Monae opened for them and I was just blown away. Her voice was crystal clear, her energy was contagious and I just wanted to put her in my pocket. (she's teeny freaking tiny)

This morning, I was super excited to hear Janelle is the newest CoverGirl. So freaking awesome. I heart Janelle Monae.

Don't Shop With Me...by pemora

If you follow us on twitter, you know that I am trying to get volunteers for a shop-free September (if you follow Kanye, you know that he is quite proud of his leather pants collection).

Well, much like The Situation's quest for a Grenade-free America, my sis and I would like to help all of those chicks (and dudes.  Not trying to discriminate) who need to just say NO to shopping.  I am going to ignore our mom's advice that we just do ALL of our shopping before August 31st (although, secretly, I am totally doing that) and realize that my closet has all of the essentials to get me through the 30 days of September.  Just an aside: I had to sing to myself "30 days has September, April, June and November" to remember how many days are actually in September.

If you would like to participate, drop me a line.  Ideally, I would also like to set-up a google group, so that the participants can swap items, provide support and just basically make me laugh.  I think they call that group therapy, but whatever.

Just say no, ladies.  And gents.  To shopping, that is.

Besides my shoes, I have an unnatural obsession with my jewelry.  I have countless necklaces, bracelets, and rings that live in 7 different boxes around my bedroom. Unfortunately, my earring game is not as tight but I figured that I don't need to spend any more money than I already do.

Right now, these are my most favorite pieces of jewelry.  Most have been gifts from my baby daddy, which I feel is only right.  I don't need other people buying me rings (although, if you want to hook me up, I won't complain).

its interesting to me that i am posting today, when i had such a crappy day.  when i didn’t work in education, i used to know how stressful my day was going to be based on the cuteness of my outfit. if i knew a day was going to be particularly crappy, my outfit had to be hot fire.
