New Kicks [most wanted]....by pemora

Where have I been? Good question....mostly on the Twitters and the Facebook. It is hard staying a G on these here social media streets.

(also, I've been reading. Like, actual and factual books.)

Anyway, I was spending 1,348 hours on the Pinterest and saw this amazing pic:

What is there not to love about this? It is the perfect I-may-or-may-not-have-2-kids-to-take-care-of-but-I-am-still-hip-to-it outfit. Of course, I would wear bike shorts underneath because I don't need to expose my wiggle and jiggle to the playground set.

Looking at sneakers, I found 3 that I am coveting. For some reason, I am drawn to blue but, heck, I will take any color. What's your fav?

I can go with this:

From Coach and on sale!

Or I can go with that:
From Aerosoles (seriously....who knew?)

Or I can go with this:
From Reebok. This is some old school steel-o right here....

Any new kicks you are rocking this summer?  And for a peek into some of my favorite kicks from my personal collection, check out my interview at Kicks Culture.

Night Time Routine......by missDTM

let's talk about hair for a second:

i remember that one time i went to my dominican spot and watched the woman who did nails take the parts of my hair that they cut off and pretend like it was her chocha hair. no joke. it was embarrassing.

growing up in the 80's and 90's, curly was too taboo and the standard of beauty was (and still tends to be) straight hair. i admit it - i straightened my curly hair, i did the relaxers and used the flat iron to "tame" it. i wanted to get rid of every curl.

stupid teenage DTM.

the beautiful thing about growing up is the ability to not listen to the haters. i've been wearing my hair curly since college and haven't put a relaxer in my hair in over 7 years (it might be more than that but i just can't remember). i'm always looking for representation of other curly haired beauties and so when a friend of mine, Coily and Cute, started doing these illustrations, i instantly fell.in.love. and now she's published a children's book?!? i'm about to buy this for all of my pregnant friends.

Back to School Supplies...by pemora

Oh, how I love/loathe September. Back-to-school is a difficult jolt to one's summer system but it is also nice to return to a regular schedule. Clearly, I also love the back-to-school sales. I like thinking about what I really need to start off on the right foot. (my friends who are reading this are probably cracking up right now. Wait until I do a post on my closet. Egads) Here are some of the things I picked up to start my school year right:

Lovely tote from bookhouathome

Those studs are teeny skulls! From lulus
I'm having an army green obsession. Not going to hide it. From sheinside.
Gosh, I love skulls. Maybe I am a closeted goth. At shopbop.
Hands down, best notebooks ever. At B+N.
And I am loving these pens from Sharpie.

Did you make any purchases recently? Anything on your back-to-school list?

Created by Fortune....by pemora

This morning, in between episodes of Fraggle Rock, I was focused on buying a bracelet from one of my sister's good friends, Melissa Fortune. While on the Created by Fortune site, I quickly became distracted by the bow ties. And necklaces. And earrings. And everything studded. Mokey and Gobo and Red were just going to have to wait, while I envisioned myself wearing anything + everything in her collection....

Check out more of Melissa's accessories, all at awesome price points, at Created by Fortune.

Walls Notebook [most wanted]...by pemora

Prior to the pemora days, my cousin gave me the tag name pem. Mostly, that meant that I would write pem in white-out on my binders...nonetheless, I would tag it up, yo.

Now that I am an old lady and am always tired, I wish I had a way of showing my bad-a$$ tendencies without leaving the comforts of my home. Behold! A notebook that will let me feel like I am tagging up anything + everything. And I can do it with a sparkly Sharpie!

Backseat Bingo [most wanted].....by pemora

As some of you may know, I have been a fan of Ester's since our long lost Chictopia days. Initially, I was just completely obsessed with her sense of style; since then, my obsession includes her awesome jewelry line. I am slowly, but surely, working on owning a piece from each collection.

By the way, my entry lock double finger ring is still an all-time fave...

via Little Rooms

Ester has just released a new collection, entitled Backseat Bingo. I picture some bad-a$$ LA chicks wearing every piece, while driving to Vegas in a beat-up RV, all while planning their escapades for the weekend. I don't know. My imagination runs wild sometimes.....take a look at some of my favorite pieces and check out the whole collection at Little Rooms....

Striped Pants [Most Wanted]....by pemora

It all started with this picture of Delfina Delettrez in the most recent issue of Bazaar Magazine....

via Bazaar
I immediately clipped it out + taped it to a page in my Moleskine. Besides being a beautiful photo, Delfina looks serene, confident, and all-knowing because she is wearing the most effing awesomest pants ever. Well, this led me down a serious path of stalkerism, until I found this...

via Stylenik

Thakoon Fall '11, you say? How can I get my hands on these without breaking the bank? I am seriously obsessed, people....

Most Wanted: Leopard Booties....by pemora

Since last fall, I have been on the hunt for the most perfect pair of leopard-print ankle boots. My hunt has led me down a Goldilocks-like frenzy of criticisms.

Too High of a Heel
Vince Camuto

Too Scary for Day Care Pick-Ups
Steve Madden

Just Right
Sam Edelman
OF COURSE, these are the same boots that have not appeared in my size since the moment I have started stalking them. WTF?! I put in a pre-order request but its just been crickets....If someone sees these in a sz 8, can you holler at your girl?

BTW, on my hunt for leopard-print ankle boots, I somehow stumbled upon and then purchased these....yeah, I'm not sure how that happened either but I have to tell you that these are probably the most comfortable shoes I have worn in a very long time. Minus my trusty Old Navy flip flops. Or my Nike Dunks. Or my Uggs Mocs*. But...you get the idea....

Jeffrey Campbell

*Please do not mock me for owning a pair of Uggs. I promise they only come out on Sunday mornings, during my grocery shopping runs. And, they are not the boots. And, my mom bought them for me. I know that there is no excuse but they are truly the MOST comfortable slip-on shoes. Ever.

Most Wanted: Carpenter Bee Bag [gray]....by pemora

I have a confession to make.  If you are one of the 2 nonfamily/friends who read this blog, you might have never guessed what I am about to say.  Actually, you probably know or really don't care, but I am hyping this up as much as possible......

I am a mom.

There, I have said it.  Its not that I am trying to hide my mommyhood status, but in my mind, I am this hip/cool/funky woman who people say to themselves after leaving happy hour, "wow, I never ever knew she was a mom!".  Except, I say things like hip, cool and funky.

I adore my son.  I prefer his presence to 99% of the people I know.  But the word MOM conjures up images of muffin tops, crocs and mom jeans.  At least, it does in my mind.

But I like to think I am so much cooler (more hip to it?) than most moms and dress so non-mommy-like.  Not a hoochie.  That's a whole other level.

Anyway, all this to say that I purchased the Carpenter Bee Bag in black from Spotted Moth because it looked a little like thatotherbagthatIsocannotafford and loved it.  I loved it so much so that it became my everyday bag.  And by everyday bag, I mean my diaper bag.

Egads!

But really?  I love it.  It is lightweight, bottles/oj/other fluids can spill all over it, and....it freaking looks cool.  Or hip.  I feel like a Fauxdashian sister when I use it, even though it just hangs off of the back of my son's Maclaren.

Sittin' in my Maclaren
and everyone is starin'

I am insanely jealous that this bag is now available in gray.  I hope that one of you awesome ladies (or fabulous dudes) grab it asap.  Trust, it is worth more than its sale price AND I guarantee you that this gray lady will be sold out before the end of the week.  Trust.

Get yours TODAY at Spotted Moth.

Most Wanted: Book City Jackets

Besides a brand new wardrobe and a spiffy Trapper Keeper (which would last for exactly 2 weeks and then I needed an industrial strength notebook), my favorite thing about the start of the school year was getting a set of book covers.  Why?

1. I am nerdy and book covers showed that I had respect for the books. Duh.
2. I went to a public school in the South Bronx and was particularly scared of my teachers.

While my peers tended to like the New Kids on the Block covers, I gravitated towards the regular ol' brown paper ones.  Mostly so I could draw the Ghostbusters' logo over and over again.

While browsing through beauty products on Target's site, I came across these awesome book covers by Book City Jackets.

I mean, seriously, how effing cool is this?  And in looking at their site, this Brooklyn-based duo are making all sorts of covers that are beautiful and creative (the Kindle one cracks me up).  I particularly like how they used the covers to accent their bookshelves.

Now, if only I could convince my sister to submit for their artists' series.  That would just rock my world.

Check out Book City Jackets on their site or on Target.com.

Most Wanted: Fashion is Art Wedge

Just taking a quick break from the Ink'ed Up series (and if you haven't checked them out, then you are just lame) to let my loved ones know that I am starting up my wish list again.  You know, because my loved ones are the only folks who tell me they read this blog and every girl needs a wish list.

So, I need these shoes.  I picture myself wearing them with cropped black pants, black blazer, quilted Chanel bag on my way to dinner with insert-pro-athlete-hottie here.  Wait, that's Kim Kardashian's life.  Okay, I need to stop watching anything involving those Kardashian girls while writing.

Anyway, these shoes are just amazing.  Jeffrey Campbell is a shoe genius.  Jeffrey Campbell, will you be my best friend and give me a pair of shoes for Christmas every year? Yespleasethankyou.

10 Deep Infantry Jacket [most wanted]....by pemora

10 Deep Infantry Jacket [most wanted]
by pemora

Despite some of the rumblings online about the show, I have really been digging HBO's 'How To Make It In America'. Mostly because of the NYC backdrop, but also because I see so many of my friends in the various characters.  If you haven't seen it, try to check it out this weekend.  I love.

Anyway, one would think that I am crushing on Cam, the charming and disgustingly cute Dominican boy.  Alas, you are wrong.  As much as I love my fellow platanos, I am really on Team Ben.  I have a real soft spot for white boys who love hip hop, hang out in both sketchy and popular places, and look like they need an extra plate of arroz con habichuelas in their lives.  What I really love about his character is his outfit -- the plaid shirt (maybe vintage?), skinny jeans, Nike dunks (I'm assuming. They never show his kicks but doesn't it feel like he's rocking some bright colored Nike dunks?) and that army jacket.  Oh, that army jacket.

I like 10 Deep's version, especially the embellishment on the back.  After all, who doesn't want a little Team Ben in their lives?  Get this for your man at karmaloop.

Little Rooms House Ring [most wanted]...by pemora

Little Rooms House Ring [most wanted]
by pemora

If you have followed us from our multiply.com days, you probably know that I stalk Little Rooms.  Not only does Ester have amazing style, but her jewelry is well-made, not super expensive, and unique in that strangers-on-the-street-wanna-holler-at-my-accessories kinda way.  Too bad I hate hate hate strangers.  And being hollered at.  But that's neither here nor there.

After purchasing the Entry Lock Double Finger Ring, I was highly anticipating Little Room's Thornwall Collection to drop.  Ester was keeping me posted on some of the designs she was working on, which was making me anxious (how the heck is she going to pull off a double finger ring of a bridge with cars on it?).  But this chica is just so talented that I wanted every single piece.

I just received my House Ring and let me tell you -- hot fire.  I am about to go on a road trip and this will probably be the only piece of jewelry I will take with me (well, besides my wedding ring. Can't have people hollering AND thinking I'm a single gal).

Order one for yourself at Little Rooms.

Elven Royalty Ring [most wanted]....by pemora

Elven Royalty Ring [most wanted]
by pemora

I have never met a ring I did not like.  It all started with my 'pemora' name ring and then moved to an obsession with double-finger rings.
Now? I am all about the mother cracklin' knuckle ring.

I'm not even sure what that means, but it sounds right.

This is some serious beauty right here.  I mean, I can totally see myself rocking this to the grocery store, to dinner with my husband (hello, husband, v-day is around the corner.  I hope you made some reservations), to a rap concert.  Seriously.

Pick this up for me (for v-day!) at AdoreVintage.
